Meet up time is 7:30am at the Hector Rd. exit from Hwy. 40 (Just past Newberry Springs) For those wanting to go to the Cady's, you will head out from here with John Cook. Those wanting to go to Lavic Siding/Hector Rd will go with Luther and Chuck.

There are inexpensive hotels in Barstow for those who want to get there Friday night Ventura is 3-3/4 hours from Ludlow). Barstow is approximately 36 minutes from Ludlow.

Ludlow Jasper - This is a (mostly) surface collecting area in the foothills. After many years of collecting, the Ludlow Jasper was much picked out surface soils. However, the exposed rock in the foothills, contain good Jasper specimens and the recent rains have likely loosened more Jasper from the source rock.


Ludlow Barite - Nestled in the foothills with the Jasper are two abandoned mining excavations. The main ore was Barite along with Jasper. This is mostly surface collecting beautiful Barite in talus piles from the two mines. There is lots of great barite with beautiful patterns and occasional rosettes.


Agate Hill - This is a mostly surface collecting. There are lots of great looking plume and banded agates and Jaspers. The majority of the good agates are found at the base and partway up the hill. Larger specimens can be found in the washes on either side of the hill. We will spend a few hours here to collect before we move on.
