BE SURE TO GET YOUR PERMITS IN ADVANCE Go to recreation.gov and search Clear Creek Management Area. Choose the Serpentine ACEC permit per person (per day) and the Vehicle permit per each vehicle (per week). YOU NEED BOTH! Don't forget to call the day before you leave and get the gate combination for getting into the main area. Once in the area, cell reception is iffy.

This trip will be led by Chuck Borchart (805-551-9946 or chuck.cgmctrips@gmail.com) We will meet at the turn to the Jade Mill Campground (MAP) at 9am on Sat. (The gate is across the main road into the area.) 4x4 isn’t necessary, but a high clearance vehicle would be best. I will be arriving on Thursday and will be camping at the Jade Mill Campground. Just turn left at the road right before the gate across the road. You can also stay at one of the hotels in Coalinga. It is about 45 minutes to 1 hr from Coalinga up to the gate, depending on how fast you drive the curvy road.

Come out of Coalinga on Jayne Ave which turns right onto S. Derrick Ave. and proceed to Los Gatos Creek Rd (which eventually becomes Coalinga Rd) where you will make a left turn. Travel 30.1 miles and you will come to Clear Creek Rd. at ( GPS= 36 21.50316, -120 47.22408) and make a right turn across the creek and then follow the road to the right 2.4 miles, all the way up to the gate and the entrance to the Jade Mill Campground on the left.
